Ivy League Schools & Russell Group Universities

Since time immemorial, people used to gather knowledge and spread it to the next generation. The concept evolved into the formation of universities and knowledge centres worldwide.

If Nalanda was the most sought-after University in ancient times, the knowledge seekers of the present day have a wide variety of universities to choose from.

Among those great universities that we now have, some of them stand out from the rest. In today’s blog, we will discuss two such groups of famed universities.

Why do you think they were left out?

Simply because they didn't excel at sports when the Ivy League was created!

B. The 24 Universities of Russell Group

India is witnessing a large-scale migration of its students to Europe for their higher studies, with the United Kingdom taking the lion’s share of those students.

According to the most recent statistics, more than 98,000 Indian students came to the UK to study last year, up 90% from the previous year.

Indeed the UK offers a dream destination for most Indians. But the shrewd Indian students don’t just go to any university in the UK - they scour for their desired courses within a group known as the Russell Group of Universities.

So, What is this Russell Group of institutions?

Well, let’s find out.

Russell Group – a collection of 24 universities – is a term for a group of universities with a shared focus on research and a reputation for academic achievement. It is dubbed the Ivy League of the UK.
